Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia donates more than $250,000 to outfit local baseball fields with new lighting and other improvements
New Field Lights at the 7th & Packer and 7th & Bigler Fields in South Philadelphia Allow Youth Athletic Leagues to Play Long into the Summer Nights on Well-Lit Diamonds for the First Time
Youth Athletic League baseball season is in full swing, and thanks to a donation of more than $250,000 from Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, players in the Southeast Youth Athletic Association (SEYAA) and the Delaware Valley Youth Athletic Association (DVYAA) can play on newly lit fields.
Earlier this year, the organizations received a $250,000 grant from Live! Philadelphia to install brand new lighting at their respective fields, as well as an additional $40,000 grant to upgrade and repair the sprinkler systems. The grants were also used to provide security improvements to the fencing surrounding the batting cages and other parts of the field. These upgrades now provide the players on the 7th & Bigler and 7th & Packer fields with the premier baseball experience in South Philadelphia.
The grants are from a Community Charitable Fund established by Live! to enhance the South Philadelphia neighborhoods surrounding the property. This Community Charitable Fund is part of a larger Community Benefits Agreement (CBA) that underscores Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia’s long-term commitment to creating collaborative partnerships with neighboring residents and civic organizations through grants that improve the quality of life in the community, employment opportunities for residents and vendor contract opportunities for local-owned businesses.
