Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia Donates $50,000 to Five Local Charities in Celebration

Each Philadelphia-based non-profit received $10,000 to further their mission

PHILADELPHIA (February 18, 2021) – In celebration of its grand opening, Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia has donated $50,000 to five Philadelphia-area non-profit organizations. Rob Norton, President of Cordish Gaming Group and Philadelphia City Councilmember Kenyatta Johnson had the honor of presenting checks for $10,000 each to Philabundance, The Garces Foundation, Young Chances Foundation, Thomas and Woods Foundation and Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia in support of their missions.

Prior to its official opening, Live! Philadelphia held two test days for the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board with all money earned during those test days donated to these five local non-profit organizations. Each organization serves a critical role in the Philadelphia community:

• Philabundance: The Philadelphia area’s largest hunger relief organization, Philabundance seeks to drive hunger from our communities today and end hunger forever.
• The Garces Foundation: Founded by James Beard Award winning chef Jose Garces, The Garces Foundation is committed to helping South Philadelphia’s underserved immigrant community get access to healthcare and educational services.
• Young Chances Foundation: The organization’s vision is to change the images neighborhood kids experience by providing positive opportunities in the community.
• Thomas and Woods Foundation: Its mission is to improve the health and well-being of youth in Philadelphia by providing quality services and programs to support athletics and development.
• Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia: Serving the city’s youth since 1887, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia provide a safe place to learn and grow, ongoing relationships with caring, adult professionals, life-enhancing programs and character development experiences, and hope and opportunity for thousands of Philadelphia youth each year.
